Datatag also collect information that it receives about the Marine Asset from sources other than you and this may be information from other users of the COMPASS database including but not limited to insurance and finance industry professionals, dealers of Marine Assets and crime prevention agencies including the police and includes for example Theft Data.


Datatag uses information held about you in various ways including but not limited to (i) to carry out its obligations arising from any contracts entered into between you and Datatag and to provide you with the information, products and services that you request from Datatag; (ii) to provide you with information about other goods and services offered by Datatag that are similar to those that you have already purchased or enquired about (iii) if you are a new customer, and where Datatag permit selected third parties to use your data, we (or they) will contact you by electronic means only if you have consented to this.

Personal Data means username (chosen by a user and which is unique to the user), password, user type (General / Finance / Dealer / Insurance / Police), title, forename, middle name, surname, telephone number, date of birth, address and email address.

Asset Data means the type of Marine Asset including but not limited to make, model, colour, material, the date of manufacture, length, unit of length, engine type (inboard / outboard), inboard engine make, model, number (where appropriate), hull identification number (HIN), horse power (for motors), fuel type (diesel / petrol / electric / other), sail number (where appropriate), name of craft, serial number, distinguishing marks / features, value (range) and image(s).

Owner Data means data about the owner of the Marine Asset and includes title, forename, middle name, surname, company, address, email and telephone of the owner of the Marine Asset.

Theft Data means The date the theft started and ended, the theft postcode, the location and description of the theft, the Police Force Area (for police users only), incident number (for police users only), (whether the Marine Asset is already on the Police National Computer (for police users only) , a crime reference number (for police users only), a police description (for police users only), insurance company and insurance reference.

Recovery Data the date the Marine Asset was recovered, the type of recovery, the police force name, the name of the police officer and the location of the recovery.

General User means a member of the public who enters information into the COMPASS Database.

Finance User means a user in the finance sector (including or example someone who may have provided finance for the Marine Asset) [and who may enter data into the COMPASS Database].

Dealer User means a dealer from whom a Marine Asset may have been purchased and [ who may enter data into the COMPASS Database] .

Insurance User means an insurance company who may have insured the Marine Asset and who may enter data into the COMPASS Database.

Police User means a member of the police [who may enter data into the COMPASS Database].

Marine Assets; these include but are not limited to kayaks, canoes, motorboats, narrowboats, outboards, personal watercraft, RIBs, rowing sculls, sailing yachts, speed boats, tenders, trailers.
