Frequently Asked Questions

What is this website for?

My Datatag allows you to register your Datatag Security System and manage your details to ensure you benefit from the secure registration offered. Fitting Datatag is proven to deter theft; however, by ensuring your details are always up to date and accurate, you will assist the Police in returning your property should anything happen to it and it is recovered. It is therefore important that you provide as much information as possible where asked.

How do I use it?

Once you're registered with the site, please follow the steps below:
1. Register your Datatag system. To do this, please follow the instructions on the Registration Card.
2. Use the "Address Book" section of the website to add addresses. When you add your asset(s), you will be able to choose the address from your address book that the asset is typically stored at.
3. Use the "My Policies" section of the website to add insurance policies. When you add your asset(s), you will be able to choose the policy that covers the asset.
4. Finally, add your asset(s). You can do this from the My Assets section of the website.
If you need to update an address, you can do this from the Address Book section. This will affect any assets associated with that address.
You can also update policies. This will affect any assets associated with that policy.
Assets can also be updated. Assets can also be marked as sold, lost, stolen, destroyed, or transferred - i.e. sold to another My Datatag user.
If you have any questions about how to use the website, you can email techsupport@datatag.co.uk.

I've already registered a system on the old website.

Great! If you go ahead and register for an account at My Datatag (if you haven't already), we can associate your assets and systems with your account. All you need to do is to email us at techsupport@datatag.co.uk from the email address you used to register at My Datatag and include the original validation codes for the assets you've already registered.

If you need to register using a different email address, please get in touch and we'll be happy to help.

Where do I find the Membership number and Datatdot number?

You can find these numbers printed on the paperwork that came with your Home Marking system.

Why don't you support all the Datatag Systems?

We're currently working on supporting more systems so that you can see all your tagged assets in once place. Make sure you've opted in to receiving email updates from us to be in-the-know when we add support for other systems.

What if I sell one of my assets?

If you have sold your asset to another My Datatag user, you can choose to transfer your asset to them. On the My Assets page, click on the green arrows next to the asset you want to transfer, and enter the e-mail address of the person you want to transfer to. You can then follow the on-screen instructions to transfer your asset.

What if the person I've sold something to doesn't want to register?

If the new owner of your tagged asset doesn't want to register with us, they won't be able to receive the benefits of having a Datatagged asset.
To hide such an asset from your My Assets screen, you can click on the green arrows next to the asset you have sold, and then click on "Sold".
The asset will remain in our database, but will no longer appear in My Assets.

What if I mark an asset as sold accidentally?

If you accidentally mark an asset as sold and need to retrieve it, you will need to contact us. Please email TechSupport@datatag.co.uk with your username and details of the asset in question.

My asset has been stolen!

We're sorry to hear that your asset has been stolen.

Please edit the asset in your My Assets area to change the status to "stolen", then follow the on-screen instructions.

How do I cancel my account?

If you'd like to cancel your account, please give us a call on 01784 778310 or email us at TechSupport@datatag.co.uk and we'll be able to help.
